Shane Boehne, Henderson, MN, Recognized during Student Awards Ceremony at the U of M Crookston

Student achievement was recognized during the annual awards celebration in April. The program highlighted outstanding students in all departments in academics and for volunteer service. Assistant Professor Matt Loeslie, who teaches in the Liberal Arts and Education Department, was the 2017 Outstanding Educator and served as host of the evening's recognition.

Student award recipients included

Shane Boehne, Henderson, MN was recognized with the Student Volunteer of the Year; Presidents Service Award; Outstanding Student Achievement Award; Man of the Year; Norman Pankratz Award; 3rd place essay award ; Music and Theater Award; and Student Orientation Staff Service Award

The 2018 Man and Woman of the Year were announced as part of the annual student awards ceremony at the University of Minnesota Crookston. Each student nominated by faculty and staff for the award is ranked in six categories: grade point average, honors, leadership, campus activities, community service, and service on campus. Students are selected for Outstanding Student Achievement Awards and from them the Man and Woman of the Year are chosen.

Woman of the Year honors for 2018 went to Heidi Shol, a senior majoring in horticulture from Crookston, Minn., and Shane Boehne, a senior majoring in natural resources from Henderson, Minn., was named Man of the Year.

With the student awards, several faculty and staff members were recognized with awards voted on by the student body. They included the Outstanding Educator Award presented to Margot Rudstrom, a lecturer in the Agriculture and Natural Resources Department; the Most Supportive of Students Award presented to Elizabeth Tollefson, assistant director in University Relations; and Outstanding Service to Students presented to Aaron Meyer, career counselor in the Office of Career Services.
