Ryan Rynda Recieves Award for Outstanding Achievement at the U of M Crookston

Awards were presented to students during the annual awards celebration at the University of Minnesota Crookston by departments and programs across the campus. The student awards celebration, held in April, was a time to note accomplishments in academics, service, and the arts.

Students recognized included Ryan Rynda, Argyle, MN (56713), majoring in Software Engineering

Four students received awards for Achievement in Music and Theater. Junior Shane Boehne and Senior Hannah Van Dyke were recognized for their achievement in music and Senior Ryan Rynda and Shaylin Goodrich, a post-secondary enrollment option student, for their achievement in theater.

Senior Kevin Williams recieved the Student Builder of Diversity Award from Lorna Hollowell, director of diversity services. Williams serves as president of the Black Student Association as well as serving in other capacities across campus.

Three students were winners of the Peace Essay Contest. For the contest participants were asked to tell, in no more than 500 words, what "peace" meant to them. The winner received a $100 gift card for the campus bookstore, and their essay will be published in the U of M Crookston Creative Writing Journal.

First place in the Peace Essay Contest went to Pratima Thapaliya; second place to Yoonhee Cho; and third place to Adam Connette.
