Orientation weekend was held Friday through Monday, August 19 -22, 2016, but for S.O.S. Leaders began preparation much earlier. Through team building activities and important training, S.O.S. Leaders are ready to assist students and their families during this transitional weekend.

Pratima Thapaliya, Dublin, CA, (94568) was one of 27 students who served as an S.O.S. Leader at the U of M Crookston.

Research indicates that students who attend orientation perform better in college and are more likely to graduate than those who do not attend. Orientation is required of all new students on the Crookston campus.

One of the highlights of the weekend is "Meet Crookston through Service held on Saturday morning, August 20. The S.O.S. Leaders take charge of their particular orientation group to work on these projects.

The final day of orientation is filled with computer check out, meeting with advisors, and discovering what students need to know before the start of the semester. Classes at the U of M Crookston began on Tuesday, August 23.
